SourCitrus Suits
Care Guide

Picture
Items Worth Investing In
  • Rubbing Alcohol (50/50 Water & Alcohol) to clean the inside of your suit.
  • Under Armor clothing to keep you cooler when in suit.
  • Large Fursuit Tote (There are black and yellow ones at Walmart that can fit most suits!)
  • Gentle detergent for washing your suit. (Gain)
  • Folex is an absolute must for any potential stains on the suit! (Lowes or Home Depot!)
  • Bristled Pet Brush to keep the suit’s fur nice and pretty.
  • Slicker Brush for high friction areas. (Armpits, elbows, etc.)
  • Additional Balaclava (If desired)
  • A small fan that can be tilted to face the ceiling.
  • Portable lanyard fans

Head Care

  • After wear, spray 50/50 alcohol/water mixture or antimicrobial spray into the fursuit head. Place the head on a large fan or put a smaller fan inside to dry out the inside of your suit head. Make sure to keep the neck flaps open to allow air in!
  • DO NOT STORE YOUR HEAD WHILE IT IS MOIST!
  • If you have an older suit of ours with painted fursuit eyes, ball up some paper towels and place into the eye sockets on the outside when preparing to wash the fursuit. (If you have dye subbed eyes, you do not have to worry about getting the eyes wet!) Fill the tub with cold water and a little bit of laundry detergent and set the head into it. Take care to make sure the eyes are not submerged in water. Work the soapy water mixture into the fursuit and rinse. Gently squeeze the head to remove excess water after rinsing. Towel dry the head the best you can and place it on top of a fan to dry inside. Brush occasionally as the head dries. If the inside dries out, you can move the fan to blow directly on the fursuit's head.
  • Using a bissell green machine is also an option. Place paper towels into the eye sockets once again, get your mixture of soap/water into the machine and spray the entire head down outside and in. Be careful of spraying the eyes however! Scrub and rinse the head, then use the suction of the machine to draw out all the moisture. Do until clean and dry it the same way as described above.
  • Spot cleaning is highly recommended for fursuit heads. If you get some dirt anywhere in a confined location on the head, spray some folex on the area, scrub, rinse and air dry.

Bodysuits, Handpaws, Armsleeves/Legsleeves & Tails

  • The parts listed have very similar care instructions.
  • After wear, spray with a 50/50 or antimicrobial spray and let dry. You can use fans to speed this process up.
  • Turn bodysuits inside out and put into washing machine (make sure it does NOT have a middle agitator!). Place handpaws and armsleeves into a pillow case and tie closed. Tails can be tossed into the wash without additional steps.
  • Put wash on cold water, delicate cycle and fill your soap dispensers and run the wash.
  • Once finished, air dry the items. (Note: Hanging bodysuits on hangers CAN potentially stretch the neck out.) You MAY put the items into the dryer on AIR DRY NO HEAT to speed up the process. Brush as the parts dry.
  • For spot cleaning on these parts, please review the head care section.

Indoor & Outdoor Feetpaws (Digi & Planti)

  • For spot cleaning on these parts, please review the head care section.
  • Indoor and outdoor feetpaws may be tossed into the washer on delicates with cold water.
  • They MUST be dried thoroughly before storing!
  • You MAY use the dryer on AIR DRY NO HEAT to speed up the process of drying them inside and out.
  • It is recommended to get TWO portable fans (like ones on lanyards) to stick into the feetpaws to dry the liner quicker.
  • After wear, use a 50/50 or antimicrobial spray on the parts and use the portable fans to stick into the feet and dry the liner quicker.
